what is this

The things you can't say out loud in a meeting.

There are parts of product work that don't show up in roadmaps or retros. The doubts. The difficult decisions. The things you can't say out loud in a meeting.

BehindProduct is a space to talk about those things. Small groups. 60 minutes. No performance needed.

format

The room is small. The space is safe.

👥
6–8 participants
Small enough for real talk
60 minutes
Tight. Focused. Enough.
🗣
Facilitated discussion
Someone holds the space
🔒
Psychologically safe
What's said here, stays here
🔀
Cross-seniority
Mixed levels, richer conversations

who's the room for

Who shows up — and why the mix matters.

Anyone who builds products: PMs, designers, engineers, researchers, marketers. No role filter. The point is the mix — because understanding what friction feels like from the other side of the table is exactly what doesn't happen in most meetings.

Same logic for seniority. Groups are mixed on purpose.

Juniors hear what the path ahead actually looks like — not the polished version. Seniors are reminded what it felt like before they had context and leverage. Managers hear things their reports might not say in a 1:1. And if you manage managers, you get a rare window into what living in the middle really means.

The most useful conversations happen when everyone in the room is slightly outside their comfort zone.
